About the project
Finansnæringens autorisasjonsordninger (FinAut) manages authorisation and competence schemes for advisers and robo-advisers in the Norwegian financial industry, helping ensure high professional standards and ethical customer treatment. The current portal relies on a complex system landscape integrated with several learning management systems (LMS), and over time this has made it feel unintuitive for several user groups.
Users struggle to navigate the portal and complete key tasks, such as keeping mandatory courses and authorisations up to date, which leads to wasted time and a high volume of support requests. Company administrators face similar issues: enrolling employees in courses, tracking deadlines and managing competence requirements is time-consuming and hard to keep track of.
As Senior UX Designer, I will carry out a holistic evaluation of the user experience, with the aim of reducing the time users spend on authorisation and mandatory training. Through user testing, interviews, workshops and expert reviews, I will map key user journeys, identify bottlenecks and sources of frustration, and evaluate navigation, information architecture, task flows and the interaction between the portal and connected LMS platforms.
From a UX perspective, the focus is on busy professionals who need to get in, complete a task and get out. Clear task flows, predictable navigation and status information that is visible at a glance, such as upcoming deadlines and missing requirements, can do much to reduce friction. From a graphic design perspective, a clear visual hierarchy, consistent components and plain, readable layouts will help users understand where they stand and what to do next, without having to dig for it.
Based on the findings, I will deliver concrete recommendations visualised through sketches, wireframes and design concepts, and point out functionality and processes that can be simplified, consolidated or removed. The goal is a more intuitive and future-ready solution that reduces the need for support and makes daily work easier for both end users and administrators.
